Sidney Root letter, 1856.

The collection consists of a letter from Sidney Root, author of Primary Bible Quotations for Young Children (Atlanta, 1864) and active Baptist, writing to the Rev, J. N. DeVotie, Baptist minister and influential member of the Columbus Association. Dated Lumpkin, Georgia, 29 October 1856, Root's letter asks DeVotie's assistance in counseling in a mutual friend, Judge M.J. Wellborn of Columbus, and assisting him in his search for religion.
